Conducted thorough market research on Egyptian and regional travel industries. Analyzed user frustrations with booking processes and identified local traveler needs. Insights showed preference for simple pricing, flexible dates, and streamlined booking. Demand for transparent fees and reliable options was high.
Conducted interviews with five travelers who regularly book flights online. Participants highlighted frustrations with hidden fees, limited flexible dates, and difficulties finding essential flight details. These insights were pivotal in identifying user-centered priorities for Misr Fly’s design.
Evaluated both local and global competitors to identify gaps and strengths. EgyptAir and FlyEgypt were primary local competitors, both lacking intuitive digital experiences. Global competitors, like Qatar Airways, excelled in customer service but often at premium prices, creating an opportunity for Misr Fly to offer accessible, streamlined booking with localized features.
Developed the persona, Yaseen El-Sayed, a frequent traveler who values a straightforward, clear booking process. Yaseen prioritizes convenience, transparent pricing, and streamlined steps for seat selection and payment. This persona guided our focus on a clean, user-friendly interface that reduces unnecessary steps and ensures clarity in every part of the booking flow.
After analyzing Laila’s journey, I identified three main challenges:
Brainstormed layout ideas using Crazy 8s to determine the most intuitive booking steps and navigation. Created a clear Information Architecture, ensuring users can navigate from flight selection to payment with minimal steps and easy access to essential details.
Developed wireframes to outline the essential booking steps, from homepage to payment confirmation. The user flow prioritized ease, with a clear path for selecting flights, seats, and flexible date options.
Tested the initial layout with users to gather feedback on navigation and clarity. Users appreciated the streamlined design but suggested clearer labels on flexible date options.
Incorporated visual refinements, interactive seat selection, and simplified payment screens. The design system ensured cohesive typography, color schemes, and UI components aligned with Misr Fly’s brand.
Established a design system to standardize elements, including colors, fonts, and icons, creating a consistent visual experience across the platform.
Tested usability with six users to find areas for improvement. Users liked payment flow but wanted clearer confirmation indicators, like final review page or "Payment Confirmed" message. Added cues for better user confidence and smoother booking.
